Acknowledgements

The depository of information contained on this website has been a massive undertaking that is certainly nowhere near complete. Nonetheless, much of this work would have been utterly impossible without the active participation of the following individuals and offices, whose willingness to help was a critical part of making this project possible. We absolutely could not have imagined beginning this endeavor without each and every one of them. Thank you!
NOTE: This list of appreciation is updated with each new contribution as the base of support for this project grows.
The reference librarians at the New York State Library who tirelessly delved (and continue to delve) into the Archives anytime we bothered them with requests for bills, laws, and reports so obscure that they had long since been forgotten, have been the invaluable saints of this project.
Mr. William Krattinger of the National Register Unit of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation interrupted his busy schedule to provide us with maps and multiple inventories that he personally scanned into .pdf files. The degree of cooperation and aid he offered at this level of State government was unexpected, and we continue to be grateful to him.
Mrs. Rebecca Burkett, former librarian at Franklin Academy High School in Malone, NY, was instrumental in helping us to obtain important State documents through interlibrary loan from the NYS Library. Her love of learning and fascination with our research has always inspired us.
Mr. Sam Bastien, former SLPC Executive Director, was kind enough to give us permission to photograph the grounds without hesitation. He was instrumental in our building of a photo album of the exterior of the institution as it exists today.
Mr. Pete Rubas, SLPC Chief Safety and Security Officer, personally contacted us with an invitation to photograph the grounds. We are indebted to him for his professionalism, courtesy, and hospitality.
Mr. David “Boomer” Lovely, former SLPC Security Officer, took time out of his day to escort us throughout the grounds. He possesses a wealth of “insider” knowledge about the SLPC grounds, both historically and paranormally, though he never really admitted to seeing any ghosts. He is not only a great person, but also a lifelong friend.
Mr. Christopher Payne, professional photographer, who allowed us to use his photographs of the hospital. We are deeply indebted to him. Without his willingness to help and his tremendous generosity, we would not have many of the present-day pictures of the interior of the institution that we now have, since access to the inside is strictly limited. Some of the images used on the Society's website can be found in his acclaimed and fascinating work, Asylum: Inside the Closed World of State Mental Hospitals.
