Farm Cottage
(1896-1898)

From the onset, hospital administrators had intended farming to be a major component of the occupational therapy programs to be available at the institution. For patients working at the farm, the ideal situation for residence would be in housing located close to the fields and barns, as opposed to being so far removed from the operation if living at Center or Letchworth. Farm Cottage, a large two-story brick building, was built with this idea in mind. The structure’s use in connection to the hospital farm was discontinued at the end of 1959, and Farm Cottage became the center for treating alcohol abuse patients.
